Govan Pipe Band closed out its 2026 season as runner-up in Grade 3B at the World Pipe Band Championships — the band's best World's result yet, and the result that's seen the band promoted to Grade 3A, the latest step in a run of promotions that's taken the band from Grade 4B in just four years.
It capped a strong season across the board: 1st at the British Championship and Champion of Champions for the grade, with 2nd-place finishes at the European and Scottish Championships alongside the World's result.
Since 2022 the band has picked up a medal at every grade it's competed in, including a Scottish Championship win (and the drumming prize alongside it) in its first year at Grade 4B. See the full year-by-year record on the Achievements page.
Next season's competition dates haven't been confirmed yet — keep an eye on the band's Events page or follow on Instagram for the first announcements.
